Care instructions

Location

It is crucial that your Monstera receives sufficient sunlight, ideally from a west-facing window, to ensure healthy and vigorous growth. However, you should avoid direct sunlight. In addition, it is important to place your Monstera in a warm location, but not in close proximity to radiators, as this can encourage the formation of brown spots on the leaves and encourage pest infestations.

Temperature

Monstera plants thrive best at room temperatures between 18 and 30 degrees Celsius. At higher temperatures, it is important to ensure that the substrate does not dry out completely.

Watering

The substrate of your Monstera plant should always be kept sufficiently moist. However, it is important to remember not to overwater the plant, as this can lead to waterlogging, which can cause root rot. In most cases, watering the plant twice a week is sufficient. To make it easier to monitor your plant's water needs, it can be helpful to use a water level indicator. Since Monsteras, like other aroids, are sensitive to calcareous water, it is advisable to use rainwater for watering instead of tap water if possible.

Care

Monstera plants should ideally be repotted every one to two years. If the roots are already growing out of the drainage holes, repotting may be necessary sooner. During the growing months from March to October, it is advisable to regularly feed your Monstera with special green plant fertilizer. In addition, it is very important for this type of plant to provide them with a climbing opportunity. This way, it can optimally develop its growth potential, especially in terms of its size.

Humidity

An increased humidity level in the air of 65% to 80% has a positive effect on the growth and development of the leaves. However, these plants can also be kept under normal living conditions, with their leaves developing particularly well in environments with higher humidity.
